2019 Oregon Sports Awards to be announced July 8-31 on NBC Sports Northwest

For immediate release:

PORTLAND, Oregon (June 24, 2019) -- The Oregon Sports Awards have pivoted to a digital rebrand for the month of July.

Now in its 67th year of existence, the annual event has partnered with NBC Sports Northwest to announce all awards on live television and radio broadcasts from July 8-31. Award-winners will be revealed during 18 segments of “The Noe Show” with Brian Noe on Rip City Radio and four editions of NBC Sports Northwest’s 6-7 p.m. talk show “The Bridge.”

The Oregon Sports Awards and NBC Sports Northwest production teams will also disclose award-winners on social media and through daily press releases on the corresponding broadcast date. Follow along on Twitter @ORSportsAwards for daily updates and Awards content.

Jim Etzel, CEO of the Oregon Sports Authority, will kick off the 2019 Awards with an introductory segment on The Noe Show on July 8. Award announcements will then begin on July 9 on The Noe Show with winner reveals for 4A/3A2A/1A Prep Boys Athlete of the Year, 6A/5A Prep Girls Athlete of the Year and Prep Girls Basketball Player of the Year.

The full broadcast and announcement schedule can be accessed at the bottom of this release. Time slots and announcement dates were determined by winner availability and production interests. All amateur and professional awards will be announced on The Bridge while the majority of single-sport prep award winners will be revealed on The Noe Show.

Award-winners will receive their trophy(s) during the live broadcast, photo and media opportunities will be provided at the conclusion of the award-winner's television/radio segment. Phone interviews or acceptance videos will substitute for on-air segments for award-winners who cannot be in studio on their designated announcement date.

NBC Sports Northwest will present 37 awards on-air. In total, 35 athletes, coaches or teams will be presented with individual awards. Only one award ended in a tie during the voting process.

To learn more about the vote, the event’s history and each individual award, visit the Oregon Sports Awards website here. Finalists lists for each award can also be accessed on the Oregon Sports Awards website.

An awards show was held at the Stanford Theatre at Nike World Headquarters from 2001-2018. Nike remains an event sponsor, and the Oregon Sports Awards team intends to announce a 2020 show location this fall.
