SPRING 2022 GIRLS GOLFER OF THE YEAR NOMINEES
Award criteria and past winners

  • Francesca Tomp notched a 74.5 scoring average during district play this season and won the 5A State Championship while representing North Eugene High School. Tomp also finished sixth at the AJGA Preview in California.

  • Mercedes Marriott from Crescent Valley in Corvallis shot an impressive 69 and 70 at the District Tournament and was also runner-up at the State Tournament.

  • Kyra Ly from Cleveland High truly dominated at the 6A State Championships, shooting 14-under and winning by an incredible 16 strokes. Kyra has committed to Oregon State for next year.


SPRING 2022 BOYS GOLFER OF THE YEAR NOMINEES
Award criteria and past winners

  • Ethan Tseng from Oregon Episcopal School in Portland, shot an average of 69.7 this season, leading his school to the 3A State Championship by a margin of 14 strokes. Ethan will be heading to the Midwest soon to play his freshman season at Northwestern.

  • Cole Rueck from Corvallis finished top-20 at the Under Armour Jordan Spieth Championship in Texas, medaled at the Future Champions Golf Tour in California, and had a scoring average of 71 this season. Cole has committed to play for Boise State next year.

  • Sam Renner from Summit won the Mountain Valley Conference this season and finished third at state with a season average of 72.2. Sam will be heading north to join Washington State next year.

  • Collin Hodgkinson from Mountainside finished fourth at the Transamerica Junior Open, second at the Adam Scott Junior Championship in California, and second at the state tournament shooting an impressive seven-under. Collin will be playing for Oregon State next year.

 

SPRING 2022 GIRLS TENNIS PLAYER OF THE YEAR NOMINEES
Award criteria and past winners

  • Lauren Han from Clackamas didn’t lose a single set this season. She was the 6A Singles State Champion, the Northwest’s top-ranked sophomore, and has remained undefeated throughout her high school career.

  • Neena Feldman from Westview was runner-up at state this year, and finished as Oregon’s top-ranked junior while ranking third in the Northwest.

  • Patricia Dougherty from Klamath Falls was District Champion and the 4A/3A/2A/1A State Champ. She finished the season with a 21-6 record and was the second-ranked junior in Oregon.


SPRING 2022 BOYS TENNIS PLAYER OF THE YEAR NOMINEES
Award criteria and past winners

  • Will Semler from Lincoln won this year’s 6A State Championship. As Oregon’s top-ranked sophomore, he led the Cardinals to their first team state title since 1988.

  • Gus Krauel from Central Catholic in Portland was ranked as Oregon’s top senior and third overall in the Northwest. He was also this year’s PIL Champion, won Mount Hood Conference Player of the Year, and went undefeated in league play.

  • Tannor Binder from Beaverton was ranked third among juniors in the Northwest this year. He also won the Metro-League Championship and was state runner-up, finishing the season with a 22-2 record.

 

SPRING 2022 SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR NOMINEES
Award criteria and past winners

  • Makenna Reid from Tigard finished her prep career with a whopping 363 strikeouts. As a pitcher this year, she had a 26-2 record, with 17 shutouts, three perfect games, and three no-hitters. Makenna will be attending Florida State next year.

  • Gracie Goewey from Bend threw four no-hitters and one perfect game this season, finishing as runner-up for Gatorade Player of the Year. She had 86 strikeouts with a 0.84 ERA in the circle. And if that weren’t enough, Gracie also had 61 RBIs and 15 home runs.

  • Addisen Fisher from Bend was Oregon’s 2021 and 2022 Gatorade Player of the Year. This season, she threw two perfect games and seven no-hitters on her way to a 20-0 record. She was also named Mountain Valley Conference Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year.


SPRING 2022 BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR NOMINEES
Award criteria and past winners

  • Paul Wilson from Lakeridge in Lake Oswego, finished the year with 0.75 ERA to go along with 36 RBIs and five home runs. In addition, Paul was recently named Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of Oregon.

  • Nate Vidlak from Hidden Valley in Grants Pass finished high school as a two-time Conference Player of the Year and was the 2021 State Player of the Year. His .579 batting average is a school record and his 0.12 ERA is the second-best in Oregon high school history.

  • Jackson Jaha from Clackamas had 61 strikeouts on the mound with a 1.22 ERA this season. And he got it done as a batter too, with 25 RBIs with a .528 batting average. Jackson has committed to Oregon for next year.

 

SPRING 2022 GIRLS TRACK & FIELD ATHLETE OF THE YEAR NOMINEES
Award criteria and past winners

  • Chloe Foersterr from Jesuit set the fastest women’s mile time in state history, running it in 4:40, and broke a 41-year-old state record in the 1,500 meters, clocking in at 4:22. Chloe was also Oregon’s State Champ in the 800 meters.

  • Sophia Beckmon from Oregon City won the 6A State Title in the long jump with a record-setting jump of 20-1.5 — making her the first female prep athlete in state history to clear 20 feet. She also posted some of the state’s best times in the 100, 200, and 400 meters.

  • Mia Brahe-Pedersen from Lake Oswego ran the nation’s fastest time in the 100 meters, captured the 6A state record in both the 100 and 200 meters, and broke the state meet record in the 200 meters. On top of that, she also led Lake Oswego to the 6A State Title.


SPRING 2022 BOYS TRACK & FIELD ATHLETE OF THE YEAR NOMINEES
Award criteria and past winners

  • Andrew Walker from South Medford was king of the short distance this year, posting Oregon’s fastest time in the 100 meters and fifth-fastest 200 meters in Oregon high school prep history. Walker captured the state title in both events.

  • Caleb Lakeman from Tualatin was the 6A State Champ in both the 3,000 and 1,500 meters. He posted a blistering one-mile time of just under four minutes and five seconds. Caleb will be joining Georgetown in the fall.

  • Tyrone Gorze from Crater was the State Champ in the 3,000 meters, ran the second-fastest 5,000 meters in the nation, and posted the second-fastest 5,000 meters in U.S. history by a junior. He took home the Oregon Sports Award for Cross Country Runner of the Year in the fall.
